Job Description

Position Title: Employee Relations Specialist

Location: Aurora, CO

Type: 12 month contract

Compensation: $30 hourly


SUMMARY

The Employee Relations Specialist plays a key role in fostering a fair, respectful, and legally compliant workplace. This position addresses employee and leadership concerns, facilitates communication between management and staff, and proactively resolves workplace issues before they escalate. The role requires expertise in conflict resolution, employee engagement strategies, and labor law compliance. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong analytical skills, problem-solving abilities, and diplomacy while conducting investigations, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and providing recommendations for resolution.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Communications, or a related field (may substitute equivalent experience).
  • Experience: Three years of experience in employee relations required. Equivalent experience may be substituted for education on a one-for-one basis.
  • Certifications: SHRM-CP/SCP preferred; SHRM Workplace Investigation Specialty Credential preferred.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues with a proactive, solutions-driven approach while fostering a productive and respectful work environment.
  • Utilize strong issue-spotting and analytical problem-solving skills to effectively intake, assess, and escalate employee relations concerns.
  • Conduct thorough investigations and provide clear interpretations of company policies and labor laws.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of all employee relations cases and report on trends to drive continuous improvement.
  • Develop and implement employee relations strategies to enhance workplace culture and engagement.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for leaders and employees, providing guidance on performance management, disciplinary actions, policy interpretation, and involuntary terminations.
  • Monitor feedback mechanisms, including employee surveys and exit interviews, and recommend actionable improvements.
  • Stay current on employment laws and regulations to ensure compliance, consistency, and risk mitigation.
  • Collaborate with HR Business Partners, HR Compliance, Legal, and other stakeholders as needed.
