A food runner assists server by delivering food and drinks to customers' tables.  They also help with cleanup and other tasks to ensure the restaurant runs smoothly.

• Deliver food:   Carry food from the kitchen to tables, and ensure it's delivered quickly and accurately  

   

   

• Communicate:   Communicate with waitstaff to understand their needs, and relay special requests to the kitchen  

   

   

• Maintain cleanliness:   Keep the expo line clean, and wash trays and tray stands  

   

   

• Organize:   Organize order tickets and track cooking times  

   

   

• Check on customers:   Make sure customers are enjoying their meals, and address any issues or requests  

   

   

• Help with setup:   Set tables, and ensure tableware, napkins, glasses, and utensils are placed appropriately  

   

   

• Explain food:   Explain specials, drinks, and meals to customers, and make recommendations  

   

   

• Follow guidelines:   Follow sanitation and food health safety rules and regulations  

   

   

• Be flexible:   Be flexible to schedule changes  

   

   

Food runners need to be able to multitask, work well in a fast-paced environment, and remain calm and professional.   They should also be physically able to carry heavy trays and stand for long hours.
