Job Responsibilities With our Agency's mission to support the recovery of people with mental illnesses, we provide a complete array of medical and support services for children, adults, and families throughout South Carolina.
This position is located at the Department of Mental Health, G. Werber Bryan Psychiatric Hospital, 220 Faison Drive, Columbia, SC 29203.
As the Psychiatrist, you will direct, plan, develop and organize the inpatient clinical, diagnostic and treatment activities of the Children's & Adolescent Units. Services are provided to a client population of ages 4-18. Perform duties under the supervision of the Medical Director of the Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Division.
Responsibilities for this Psychiatrist include but are not limited to: - Provides medical leadership to assigned unit. Provides leadership in planning and developing the treatment programs.
- Provides psychiatric care to patients on the Children's & Adolescent Units. Ensures treatment service/care planning processes are effectively implemented. Assists medical staff with problems with the milieu and support staff. Assists support staff with problems with the milieu and medical staff.
- Provides psychiatry coverage for other units as assigned by Medical Director of C&A Services.
- Serves as a member of medical staff and other Inpatient Services committees as assigned.
- Provides competent service to assigned population using appropriate age and cultural competencies.
- Compliance with Corporate Compliance, Harassment-Free Workplace and Time and Attendance policies. Maintains annual trainings to include CPR certification, MAPS training and all licensure requirements.
- Helps coordinate and supervise the inpatient training experience for medical students, general and child residents, as well as involvement in other scholarly activities in the Division.
Minimum and Additional Requirements Licensed to practice medicine in South Carolina. Completion of required residency in psychiatry and two (2) years of work experience in psychiatric programs.
Preferred Qualifications Eligible to become certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
