JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Summary of the Job:
This individual is employed by St. Tammany Health System (STHS) for the purpose of coordinating the care of the medical and surgical patients of Northlake Surgical. Major areas of responsibilities include: Hospital & Clinic medical & surgical management of pediatric to geriatric patients. Participation in multidisciplinary rounds as necessary. Required to work primarily day shift and alternate other shifts, weekends, and/or holidays as indicated. On-Call will be as required. Performing and documenting a H&P signed by the physician within 24 hours. Rounding. Writing orders within scope of practice. Collecting diagnostic test results. Documentation in the Electronic Health Record (EHR). Performing and documenting discharge summaries. Care planning, follow-up visits, updating treatment plan including medications, ordering and interpreting lab & documentation in the medical record as appropriate. Perform office and hospital based procedures as appropriate per scope of practice and training.
Minimum Qualifications:
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; Current Louisiana State APRN Licensure; Current BLS certifications through any International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR) provided courses such as but not limited to: Ochsner Health System, American Heart Association, and American Red Cross. The ILCOR course must include a manikin check off. Strong computer skills. Eligible for limited prescriptive authority in Louisiana as approved by St Tammany Parish Hospital. Good organizational skills. Ability to be courteous and respectful when interacting with patients and family members. Maintain confidentiality. Maintain CME per licensure and clinic protocols.
Preferred Qualifications:
3-5 years of related experience preferred.
Physical Demands:
Must possess good physical health. Some requirements include but are not limited to standing, sitting or walking for long periods of time. Lifting at least 20 pounds is required. Must be able to work with a moderate level of noise.
