Job Description
The Estimator is responsible for planning, coordinating and directing all estimating functions, including development of project budgets, estimates, cost tracking and project support for all divisions. Helps develop and implement all department standards and procedures. Responsible for review of final estimate packages to ensure accuracy and completeness. Also responsible for maintaining the company estimating database.
• Helps collectively manage department activities, makes self-available to staff, provides regular feedback and develops subordinates' skills and encourages growth.
• Manage estimates.
• Review bid requests and proposals.
• Prepare weekly bid calendar and ensures complete, accurate and timely completion of estimates.
• Responsible for prioritizing and planning work activities, uses time efficiently and develops realistic action plans.
• Delegate work assignments, sets expectations, monitors delegated activities and workload, motivates others to perform well and accepts feedback from others.
• Attend job walks and report information back to executives related to critical differences in job drawings and bid requirements.
• Prepare bid summary and review estimates with Estimators, Project Managers and/or Executives.
• Review estimates and revisions for completeness and accuracy.
• Follow-up on bid results and maintain estimate tracking log.
• Analyze estimates vs. completed projects.
• Provide tracking including weekly updates.
• Develop and provide estimating training.
• Maintain department confidentiality.
• File, organize and maintain estimate files associated with above-referenced tasks.
• Perform additional tasks as assigned.
Qualification Requirements
• Minimum of 5 years electrical estimating experience.
• Field experience as an electrician or a degree in Construction Management preferred.
• Extensive experience using estimating software.
• Strong ability to conceptually estimate electrical construction projects.
• Extensive working knowledge of electrical construction industry.
• Ability to understand all types of drawings and technical specifications.
• Knowledge of the National Electrical Code, fire alarm and other systems.
• Strong analytical skills and statistical background.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Proficient in use of computers and Microsoft Office, Suite, Teams
