Position Overview: Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Geotechnical Design Engineer or Senior Structural Engineer with PE license to join an engineering team responsible for overseeing the geotechnical aspects of major construction projects.
This senior-level role will focus on ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective design solutions. The position will involve working with a dynamic team to develop value-driven solutions, addressing complex challenges related to foundation systems, earth retention, slope stabilization, and ground improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Mentor junior engineers, providing guidance on technical challenges, design methodologies, and professional development.
- Support estimating teams with engineering input during bid preparation.
- Develop and review geotechnical reports, proposals, and technical documentation for clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
- Advise on risk assessment and mitigation strategies related to ground conditions.
- Provide technical expertise in the design of geotechnical systems, including foundations, retaining walls, slope stabilization, and ground improvement.
- Collaborate with engineers, architects, and construction teams to ensure designs align with project specifications and integrate well with other disciplines.
- Participate in project bidding, evaluating geotechnical risks and suggesting value-engineering solutions.
- Ensure designs meet local, national, and international codes, as well as project-specific requirements.
- Conduct detailed geotechnical analyses, including soil testing, settlement evaluations, and seismic studies.
- Manage client relationships, address technical inquiries, and provide project updates to ensure satisfaction.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices in geotechnical engineering.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required; additional certifications such as Chartered status are a plus.
- 8-15 years of experience in geotechnical design, with a focus on ground improvement or similar fields.
- Strong knowledge of geotechnical engineering principles, including soil mechanics, foundation design, and site investigations.
- Proficiency in Excel, Mathcad, and working knowledge of AutoCAD. Familiarity with specialized software like CT_Shoring, DeepEx, LPile, Settle 3D, GeoStudio, and Plaxis is a plus.
- Knowledge of local, national, and international design codes and regulations.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and capacity to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
