The Buyer is responsible for forecasting, buying and releasing direct materials. The Buyer shall maintain and cultivate communication with the Supply Base, Ford and Stellantis Purchasing to optimize inventory levels, to increase customer fill rates and to ensure correct engineering levels are obtained.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Coordinate supplier releases for all Component Suppliers to meet manufacturing schedules and customer demands
- Track Supplier delivery performance / expedited freight occurrences
- Conduct routine/non-routine meetings with Supplier Representatives for business/issues review
- Resolve invoicing/receipt issues between suppliers and Accounting
- Escalate supplier issues to Supply Chain Manager as necessary
- Review and update system parameter parts for material planning purposes
- Procure materials from various internal and external suppliers to support the sales operations of the business
- Sustain a balance of inventory to ensure low valuation while maintaining the highest possible fill rate
- Utilize system to analyze material requirements and sales trends to place orders
- Analyze and adjust inventory levels for safety stocks, excess inventory obsolete parts, supersessions and item replacements
- Support management of vendor performance and conduct reviews and periodic meetings to address unresolved issues and areas of improvement
- Provide detailed forecasts to internal and external vendors to relay accurate insight to future business needs
- Monitor Customer backorders and unfilled customer shipments to resolve open issues with parts
- Review Customer forecasts to relay any future potential delays and adjust vendor forecasts for necessary changes
- Relay internally and externally supplier and customer shortages
- Review and resolve supplier ASN issues
REQUIREMENTS
Education:
- High School Diploma and 5 years of equivalent work experience required
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management or equivalent preferred
Years of Experience:
- 4-8 years of experience in Purchasing, Material Planning, or Supply Chain Management
- 1-2 years of equivalent experience in a Tier 1 automotive supplier preferred
KEY COMPETENCIES
- Advanced skill level in MS Office Suite; Excel, Word, PowerPoint
- Demonstrated ability to take on several tasks at once and follow-up on open items until resolution
