Our client in the San Francisco Bay Area is looking for an Ocular Biologist to join their team for a 6 month initial contract!
This candidate will play a critical role in the development and optimization of our client's gene therapy pipeline of products. Experience with ocular cells/explants is required.
What you'll do:
- Perform in vitro assays, analyze experimental data, interpret results, and prepare data for internal presentations.
- Develop and characterize cell lines as tools to support research programs by means of candidate screening, vector payload optimization, and potency assays.
- Support transfer of assays to other teams by preparation and documentation of materials.
- Conduct additional labwork as needed.
- Collaborate with other departments (Pre-Clinical, Process Development, Analytical Development, etc.) to achieve shared objectives.
- Masters/Bachelor’s degree in life sciences with 5-7+ years of hands-on laboratory experience in a biotechnology or academic setting.
- Proficient in tissue culture models – primary and/or cell lines.
- Experience with molecular biology techniques (such as cloning, DNA/RNA isolation, gel electrophoresis, PCR, ELISA, qPCR, Western blot, MSD).
- Hands-on experience with transfection (electroporation/chemical) and transduction with viral vectors is advantageous.
- Proficiency with flow cytometry is desired.
- Experience with data analysis software like GraphPad Prism, FlowJo, SoftMax Pro, Geneious Prime are a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as in a team-oriented environment effectively.
- Well organized and able to multitask while maintaining attention to detail and keeping accurate, updated records and electronic notebooks.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to interpret, summarize, and present scientific results to both technical and non-technical audiences.
