The duties and responsibilities of a Plumbing Designer include but are not limited to:
- Responsible for all aspects of engineering design, specific to the plumbing discipline within a variety of market sectors, including Healthcare, K-12, Mixed Use, Higher Education, and more.
- Responsible for developing the performance-based scope of work specific to the fire protection system design with designated projects.
- Produce construction documents (drawing and specifications) for new buildings, renovations, and additions to existing facilities.
- Require minimal guidance in creation of construction documents using Revit.
- Require minimal guidance in writing specifications using Word, or specifications on drawings using Revit.
- Ability to design a variety of basic to very complex plumbing systems with minimal guidance.
- Perform all types of calculations required to design systems, including sizing of source equipment and distribution systems. (i.e.: Booster Pumps, Fire Pumps, Water Heating Equipment, Circulator Pumps, Storm/Sanitary Pumps, Grease Interceptors, Oil/Sand Separators, Storm drainage, Sanitary Waste and Vent, Domestic Water, Natural Gas, Compressed Air, Laboratory Systems, Medical Gas Systems, etc.)
- Communicate effectively with clients and internal team members.
- Coordinate the plumbing design and specification development with all other building systems.
- Coordinate the fire protection scope of work and specification development with all other building systems.
- Building and maintaining positive client relationships.
- Have the ability to provide the effort and time required to meet the deadlines while maintaining quality design.
- Reviews the development of designs for compliance with applicable codes, adopted engineering standards, and good engineering practices.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- Seven or more years of plumbing design experience within the building design sector
- Revit and AutoCAD Proficiency
- Must possess a valid driver’s license
PREFERRED SKILLS
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering or related field
- Certified in Plumbing Design (CPD)
