Job Description

JDP is seeking a Production Superintendent on 2nd shift (2p-midnight) for a major Food manufacturing company located near Sioux City Iowa.


Relocation is provided to the Sioux City area

Salary is $90k-100k with a 15% bonus


Responsibilities:

  • Implement and maintain safety and ergonomic programs to achieve an injury-free workplace.
  • Actively participate in the Safety Committee and contribute to reducing injuries and injury-related costs.
  • Ensure staff compliance with HACCP, SSOP protocols, CCPs, and the HACCP plan.
  • Maintain high standards to minimize product failures and prevent foreign material contamination.
  • Assist in overseeing plant operations, including supervision of staff and employees.
  • Lead recruitment, training, and employee development initiatives.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, reward achievements, and manage disciplinary actions.
  • Train and guide support staff in areas such as Safety, Food Safety/QA, HR, accounting, maintenance, and production.
  • Foster consistency and adherence to company standards to ensure operational profitability and efficiency.
  • Build a collaborative team environment that drives employee engagement.
  • Establish operational goals and monitor progress to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Train supervisors to recognize and act on operational challenges and opportunities.
  • Track and optimize yields, labor, and expenses to meet performance targets.
  • Ensure compliance with operational specifications and procedures to drive efficiency and profitability.
  • Lead initiatives to reduce waste and maximize raw material utilization.
  • Promote a culture of approachability, communication, and teamwork across all levels of the organization.
  • Address and resolve employee complaints and concerns effectively.
  • Develop accurate fixed and capital budgets for annual planning purposes.
  • Monitor and control costs to align with budgetary goals and support overall company profitability.


Qualifications:

  • Proven leadership experience in operations management, preferably in a manufacturing or food production environment.
  • Strong knowledge of safety programs, food safety standards (HACCP, SSOP), and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Financial acumen with experience in budget planning, cost control, and performance analysis.
  • Ability to train, manage, and lead cross-functional teams effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to set and achieve operational goals, with a focus on efficiency and profitability.
  • Knowledge of raw material utilization, labor variance, and waste reduction strategies.
  • Experience in employee relations, including conflict resolution and fostering team collaboration.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment while balancing long-term planning with immediate operational needs.
