Brunel is currently searching for a Controller for direct hire with our mining client located in Kern County, California . Approximately 20 minutes outside of LA County.
Reporting to the Mine Finance Manager, as Controller you will have 3 direct reports on the Finance team consisting of Accountants and Coordinator. This role collaborates with the Finance Manager and corporate team to drive financial performance and risk management.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare financial statements and ensure accurate reporting.
- Manage financial controls, audits, and compliance.
- Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Lead the mine site finance team and month-end close.
- Analyze financial performance and drive process improvements.
- Support ERP implementation and other financial projects.
- This role is hands on.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business.
- CPA designation (or in progress) preferred.
- 7-10+ years of finance/accounting experience, with strong preference in the mining industry.
- Need a take charge leader who can hit the ground running.
- Strong IFRS, US GAAP, and financial reporting knowledge.
- Excellent analytical, communication, with strong leadership skills.
- Must have strong MS Office skills and financial systems applications, expert in Excel.
- MUST be eligible to work in the U.S. without the need for sponsorship.
Offer:
Full-time, direct hire with salary range $130-140K plus 15% bonus. Position includes bonus, 5% 401K match, full-benefits and potential relocation package. This role will be required to work on-site at the mine and is generally a compressed work week of four 10-hour days. Flexible for more hours during month-end, quarterly and year-end close.
