We are looking for an experienced and highly skilled Subject Matter Expert on Violent Extremist Organizations to play a pivotal role in shaping NATO’s counter-terrorism strategies. Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a subject matter expert on designated terrorist organizations and provide consultancy on terrorism and counter-terrorism operations.
- Coordinate external subject matter expertise on terrorism to support designated projects, ensuring alignment with NATO’s Tier approach to leverage knowledge across NATO entities and external organizations.
- Assist in developing, coordinating, and advising on the implementation of Warfare Development Agenda (WDA) Lines of Delivery focused on NATO’s NWCC timeline and the strategic/operational challenges posed by designated terror groups.
- Conduct in-depth research and analysis on emerging threats, adversarial strategies, and technological advancements to support NATO Red Team activities and inform decision-making processes.
- Draft, review, and finalize high-quality Red Team reports, strategic analyses, and wargame evaluations that meet NATO standards.
- Apply analytical expertise to recommend actionable insights for NATO projects and wargames related to violent extremist organizations.
- Provide reach-back support to NATO HQ and ACT Directorates for planning activities, contingencies, and exercise events related to designated terror groups.
- Act as a liaison between the Red Team and other NATO entities, facilitating coordination, intelligence sharing, and alignment with broader NATO objectives.
- Deliver specialized operational and analytical support to the Red Team leader, offering insights to enhance Red Team activities and outputs.
- Develop and maintain a repository of Red Team knowledge, including best practices, lessons learned, and research findings, to improve team effectiveness.
- Support the professional development of Red Team personnel by identifying emerging trends, adversarial methodologies, and critical thinking strategies.
Minimum Requirements
- Citizenship: Must hold the nationality of one of NATO’s member countries.
- Education: Master’s degree in a relevant discipline.
- Experience:
- Demonstrated expertise in working with international teams.
- Project management experience, including complex stakeholder management tasks. A PMP certification or equivalent is required.
- Proven research experience in an accredited academic institution, organization, or equivalent, related to the field of expertise.
- Experience living or working in areas of focus, where applicable.
- Background in corporate, government, or academic analysis concerning international relations, security studies, or related fields.
- Published work demonstrating knowledge of regional political, geopolitical, human, and economic issues.
- Experience as a field-grade officer with a background in counter-intelligence or counter-terrorism operations.
- Familiarity with NATO’s structure, processes, and strategic headquarters.
- Skills:
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other collaborative software, including Microsoft Visio.
- Clearance: NATO Secret Security Clearance or national equivalent.
