The Position:
The Mechanical Design Engineer will first learn about iTS’s extensive product lines and become familiar with our improved designs for the various Ion Implant tools that iTS supports. The Candidate will work alongside Senior Managers to create, design and test new products for our customers that maximize Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) and Mean Time Between Maintenance (MTBM). Additionally, the Senior Mechanical Engineer will work directly with iTS’s engineering and sales team to conceptualize customer requirements and needs that meet and or ideally exceed their expectations.
Responsibilities
- Support Senior Management in the development of new products and the expansion of iTS product lines
- Understand the different Ion Implant systems that iTS supports and facilitate new design and development of products and solutions
- Create BOMs for new design assemblies
- Design experiments to test prototypes
- Prepare technical designs, drawings and models of new components and assemblies.
- Test prototypes for form, fit and function as well as perform thermal testing analysis
- Internalize customer requirements effectively and communicate them to the Engineering and Sales team
- Leverage experience to further develop iTS’s Research and Development team
- Prioritize and manage customer engineering requests
- Lead new R&D projects with the Engineering team
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering field required;
- Minimum 10 years of experience in a design engineering role; Minimum 3 years of experience in the Semiconductor and or Ion Optical industry is preferred
- Experience in Semiconductor and or Complex Scientific Production Capital Equipment design and fabrication is required.
- Knowledge of Ion Optics and Metallurgy of Refractory Metals is preferred
- Ability to create and read mechanical drawings and to understand complex Geometric Dimensions & Tolerances as it pertains to Thermodynamics is required
- Proficient with CAD software such as Solid Works or Inventor
- Proficient with LabVIEW and/or COMSOL is preferred
- Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in teams
- Ability to thrive in a detail-orientated environment
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
