Job Description

Electrical Technician - 2nd Shift


Purpose:

Ensure the continuous operation of critical power and control systems to maintain smooth plant and production operations.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Install, troubleshoot, and repair low and high voltage electrical and control systems (single/three phase) for packaging lines, facility equipment (e.g., air compressors, boilers, pumps, water purification systems), and lighting in the production plant and warehouse.
  • Perform all tasks in compliance with company policies, procedures, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Manage emergency and scheduled electrical maintenance tasks across the plant.
  • Identify, plan, and execute electrical projects with or without guidance from the department manager.
  • Size circuits and install conduit in accordance with national and local electrical code standards.
  • Upgrade outdated or unsafe electrical installations throughout the plant.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for all electrical needs across the plant.
  • Standardize electrical controls and power components to Allen Bradley parts whenever possible.
  • Act as a key member of the plant's emergency response team.


Accountabilities:

  • Ensure that all electrical power and control systems in the plant and remote warehouse are operational in a safe, reliable manner.


Qualification Standards:

  • Proficiency in reading, interpreting, and modifying electrical prints and schematics, with proper documentation of any self-created changes.
  • Experience using electrical diagnostic equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, etc.
  • Understanding of electrical requirements for intrinsically safe environments (Class I, Div. I, Group C&D).
  • Knowledge of industry-standard motion sensing and control devices.
  • Expertise in DC and AC motors and drives (Allen Bradley preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of Allen Bradley MicroLogix and PLC-5 family of processors.
  • Skilled in ladder logic programming (for PLC-5, etc.) and HMI interface configuration (e.g., Wonderware, PanelView).
  • Hands-on experience converting relay logic-based systems to PLC-based systems.
  • Knowledge of cGMP and other regulatory requirements for electrical installations.
  • Familiarity with national electrical codes and relevant standards.
  • Computer literacy and familiarity with industry-standard PLC programming and HMI devices.
  • Gas House Safety System Training.
  • Familiarity with emergency response procedures.
  • cGMP training.
