Quality Engineer – Matcor Matsu

Location: Ionia, MI.

Department: Quality.

Reports To: Quality Manager.

Matcor Automotive has an exciting opportunity for a Quality Engineer to join our team and help launch new business. We are looking for a self-motivated individual who is customer-focused, detail-oriented, and driven to succeed. Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop, maintain, and publish quality documentation, ensuring compliance with customer standards (Control Plans, Flow Diagrams, PFMEA, Work Instructions, etc.).
  • Support APQP processes with quality input and information.
  • Prepare PPAP documentation and assist with process certification during launches and engineering changes.
  • Analyze and interpret GD&T drawings, CMM reports, and provide direction to production teams.
  • Promote and execute quality standards, inspection processes, test methodologies, and quality plans.
  • Lead corrective actions for internal and external quality issues.
  • Interface with suppliers and customers to address quality concerns and ensure effective resolutions.
  • Support and maintain the Quality Management System (QMS) and assist with internal/external quality audits.
  • Travel to customer and supplier sites as needed (day trips, no overnight travel required).


Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience and training.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Strong knowledge of GD&T, blueprint reading, and inspection/control methods.
  • Familiarity with IATF16949 standards.
  • Experience with metal stamping and welding processes.

Preferred Experience:

  • Automotive industry experience, especially with Stellantis requirements.
  • Knowledge of gage design, R&R studies, and CMM basics.
  • Exposure to Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies.
