Job description:
As a Senior Installation Engineer you will participate in the design and development of installation procedures for our products, initially focused on our trailer tracking (Skybitz) line of business. In this Customer Facing role that supports our Fleets Telematics Business, you will pilot physical installations and assist with diagnosing and advising our customers on any installation issues.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Driving the timely installation of our Fleets products, ensuring achievement of recurring revenue.
- Designing mechanical and hardware solutions for trailer telematics, driving New Product Development.
- Developing and refining installation instructions for our products.
- Performing testing in the lab and in the field to ensure quality standards are met.
- Piloting installations at client sites.
- Consulting with leadership and other engineers to set goals, plan projects, build timelines, stay within budget, and support organizational objectives.
- Identifying and recommending new hardware components or procedures that maximize ease of use for our customers.
- Working closely with other engineering groups and product management to develop product solutions that meet customer expectations for functionality, cost, performance and time to market.
- Conducting quality reviews that include extensive peer reviews and test suite development.
- Providing guidance and mentoring to other engineers and customer support team members.
Requirements for the role:
- Extensive experience with hardware installations in harsh environments.
- Understanding of choices with regards to durability of the system as it is installed on the customer’s asset.
- 5+ years of experience in hardware installations.
- B.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar discipline
- Experience with mechanical design systems (CAD)
- Ability to read, understand and evaluate mechanical and engineering drawings.
- Demonstrable ability to own and deliver projects of increasing technical complexity.?
- Understanding of power management systems including solar power and battery management.
- Ability to read and understand wiring diagrams as they apply to installations on unpowered assets.
- Demonstrated proficiency in dissecting intricate problems, deconstructing them into fundamental components, and engineering elegant solutions from the ground up.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Experience with parts management systems (Omnify, SAP) (preferred)
- Experience in IoT systems and implementations (preferred)
