Position: Senior Project Manager

Location: Lansing, MI (Hybrid: 2 days onsite weekly, remainder remote)

Duration: 1 year with possible extension

We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead a multi-year, high-priority legacy modernization project. This role involves close collaboration with technical teams and agency executives/stakeholders, ensuring seamless coordination and delivery.

The ideal candidate should excel in managing fast-paced, multi-vendor deployments and supporting a hybrid workforce. Exceptional communication skills, follow-up abilities, and extensive experience in formal IT project management are essential.

• IT Project Management: In-depth knowledge and experience, including industry standards and best practices (7+ years).
• Project Planning & Monitoring: Establishing and maintaining project budgets, schedules, change requests, and risk/issue logs (7+ years).
• Portfolio Management Tools: Proficiency in systems like Clarity (5+ years).
• Communication Skills: Clear, concise, and effective communication at all levels of an organization.

Key Responsibilities:

• Utilize project portfolio management tools to prepare schedules, assign resources, and manage budgets.
• Prepare and deliver presentations tailored to various audiences, including executives, managers, and project teams.
• Monitor, control, and communicate project progress, managing cost, schedule, scope, resources, quality, and risks.
• Ensure clear and timely communication with all stakeholders, including sponsors, team members, and management.
• Foster collaboration between technical and business teams, securing consensus and commitment.
• Develop and maintain key project documentation, such as charters, schedules, budgets, communication plans, status reports, risk logs, and closeout summaries.
• Manage vendor deliverables and enforce deliverable approval processes.
• Facilitate and enforce change management processes for scope, schedule, or budget changes.
• Create corrective action plans for projects in yellow or red status.
• Ensure adherence to established project management methodologies and system engineering standards.
• Actively manage project benefits and ensure accurate documentation for any change requests.
