Surgical Technologist-Job Description

Set up operating room, equipment, and instrumentation

Responsible for prepping patents prior to surgery according to standard practice

Assist plastic surgeon in operating room preparation and procedures

Responsible for pre and post op accounting of all surgical instruments, needles, sponges and medications placed with in the sterile field used

Responsible for proper documentation of all supplies and "extras" used in a case

Assist in transport patients to recovery room

Sterilize instruments by running autoclave

Responsible for ordering and stocking all supplies for OR and Recovery

Quick turnover time between cases

Knowledge of sterilization techniques which includes inspecting, cleaning, assembling

wrapping, sterilizing, and checking equipment needed for procedure

Responsible for proper handling of specimens
