Position Summary: We are seeking a qualified and reliable Staff Accountant to support our Finance Department. The Staff Accountant is responsible for day to day accounting, data entry, working directly with the Finance Director and other administrative/finance staff members and in accordance with HIV Alliance fiscal policies and contractual requirements. The Staff Accountant is responsible for accounts payable and accounts receivable, contract invoicing, and admin allocations. This position will support implementation of a new program, Health Related Social Needs (HRSN), including purchasing/inventory software implementation, fiscal policy/procedure and invoicing.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Assist in implementation of HRSN capacity building activities in the Finance Department
Accounts payable & receivable
Review disbursements
Credit card entry and reconciliation
Prepare and process invoices for grants and contracts, track progress
Post transactions/disbursements to the general ledger
Work with staff and management to develop and implement new procedures
Complete journal entries, including monthly recurring
Reconcile Balance Sheet Accounts
Allocate expenses to programs and track expenditures by revenue source
Assist in preparation of financial statements, reports, and audit documentation
Communicate with staff/managers to ensure compliance
Maintain spreadsheets and routine data entry
Conduct internal audit of pre-paid financial assistance cards
Act as a back up to staff responsible for payroll and purchasing
Special projects and other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
TB test provided by agency
Valid Oregon driver’s license, or valid out of state driver’s license with the ability to get an Oregon driver’s license within 30 days of establishing residency in Oregon, and a driving record sufficient to be covered by agency auto insurance policy
Ability to pass agency criminal background check
5 years of experience and education that would provide the necessary skills. For example, Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with at least one-year accounting experience
Proficient with Word, Excel, Financial Edge or similar accounting software
Nonprofit finance experience preferred

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to:
Repetitively use hands, including grasping, twisting/turning of wrists, and finger dexterity to perform various necessary clerical duties, such as typing and writing
Frequently use arms, including pushing and pulling to open & close drawers, cabinets, etc.
Sit and/or stand for extended periods of time at an assigned station
Bend, stand, and reach to be able to transport clients and to occasionally lift and carry up to 25 pounds for tasks such as building kits (harm reduction, naloxone, etc.) and assembling testing and educational materials
Use continuous clarity of vision at 20 inches or less for processing of paperwork

Working Conditions, Travel, and Environment:
The duties of this job require individuals to be able to work in non-traditional and community-based settings. Additionally, the duties of this job include travel to other locations necessary to complete essential job functions, including the ability to transport self to job-related events and locations. This role requires regular reliable attendance, including:
Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends
Ability to work 5 days per week for a minimum of 40 hours per week
Ability to work in loud, crowded, or busy environments
