The
Shipping Coordinator is responsible for the shipping schedule, ensuring it is met daily. The coordinator communicates with other departments and customers regarding any shortages of supplies, containers, or products that could affect the schedule.
What you will bring to UGN: - Directly supervise Team Members per shift in the department.
- Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of Team Members. Monitor daily activities of production Team Members on the shift.
- Carry out supervisory responsibilities following the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training team members; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; coaching Team Members; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Assist Production Shift Coordinators in planning production activities and establishing production priorities for products in keeping with effective operations and cost factors.
- Ensure shipping procedures are updated and all team members are trained accordingly.
- Maintain files for all inbound and outbound freight.
- Arrange transportation for special shipments or when required, using the most cost-effective method to satisfy customer needs.
- Serve as a contact point for logistics issues to customers and suppliers, such as blowouts, late trucks, etc.
- Ensure a steady supply of returnable containers and communicate any needs to the customer through the appropriate sales representative.
- Track usage of shipping supplies and reorder as needed.
- Coordinate all sample parts and service part orders from receipt through shipment, working with the Quality and Production departments.
- Coordinate all bank builds with the Production and Sales Departments to ensure the most cost-effective methods are used to fulfill customer requirements.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
What you will do for UGN: - One year certificate from college or technical school; High School Diploma.
- 2 + years related shipping/receiving experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 1 + year experience in managing people in a high volume fast-paced environment.
- Experience in production, shipping, and materials within a manufacturing environment. Automotive industry experience is preferred.
- Desire strong organizational skills as well as leadership skills with a customer service mentality.
- Continuous improvement knowledge required (TPS).
- Good problem-solving skills and a sense of urgency.
- Prefer manufacturing materials background and experience with EDI and Oracle ERP.
