Job Summary
Performs a variety of standardized tests, including advanced and specialized tests appropriate to the discipline of the assigned laboratory section. Obtains specimens where necessary. Prepares the specimen and decides the suitability of the specimen for the requested test. Prepares reagents. Performs tests, determines and calculates results. Reviews results for accuracy. Maintains proper records. Discusses methods and general procedures. Investigates alternative procedures, where appropriate, and reviews results with the supervisor. May assume supervisory capabilities in the absence of the immediate supervisor. Evaluates new test methods and instrumentation.
Job Requirements
a. Minimum Education Requirement : Bachelor's degree in medical technology or in chemical, physical, or biological science with clinical education, which includes one year of internship.

Minimum License Requirement : Medical Tech, Cert (Required) ASCP/AMT/AAB within 1 year of hire or be licensed as a CLP-MT before the effective date of June 1, 2017 and have met all applicable requirements of WV Legislature rule sections 5.1.a through 5.1.d ASCP/AMT/AAB within 1 year of hire or be licensed as a CLP-MT before the effective date of June 1, 2017 and have met all applicable requirements of WV Legislature rule sections 5.1.a through 5.1.d
Physical Requirements and Environmental Conditions
Medium Work: Frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 lbs with a maximum lifting of 50 lbs.
