We are looking for a PRN Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to provide flexible rehabilitative care to patients. This role involves assisting Occupational Therapists in evaluating patients, implementing treatment plans, and educating patients and caregivers on therapeutic techniques. We are seeking a skilled PRN Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our team on an as-needed basis. This position offers flexibility and the opportunity to work alongside experienced therapists to deliver high-quality rehabilitative care to patients of all ages.
Responsibilities:
- Assist Occupational Therapists in conducting patient evaluations and assessments to determine functional status and develop treatment plans.
- Implement individualized treatment programs designed to improve patients' ability to perform activities of daily living (ADLs), mobility, and fine motor skills.
- Provide therapeutic interventions under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist, including therapeutic exercises, activities, and modalities.
- Educate patients and caregivers on therapeutic techniques and adaptive equipment to facilitate independence and enhance functional abilities.
- Monitor and document patient progress, outcomes, and response to treatment interventions.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to ensure coordinated patient care and optimize treatment outcomes.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient evaluations, progress notes, and discharge summaries.
Requirements:
- Associate's degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
- Current certification as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) issued by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).
- State licensure or eligibility for licensure as a COTA in Alabama.
- CPR certification (BLS).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team in a fast-paced clinical environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in a healthcare setting, preferably in rehabilitation or skilled nursing facilities.
- Knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid regulations related to occupational therapy services.
- Specialized training or certification in areas such as geriatrics, pediatrics, or neurorehabilitation.
Working Conditions:
- PRN (as-needed) position with flexible scheduling based on departmental needs and candidate availability.
- Potential to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays, as required.
