The Mechanical Design Engineer will develop detailed mechanical drawings and bills of materials for vacuum and controlled furnaces in the specialty metals industry. This role focuses on machine design, engineering calculations, and providing technical support for internal teams and customers. The position requires a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and knowledge of design software like SolidWorks or AutoCAD.

Our client is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their dynamic team specializing in the design and manufacturing of vacuum and controlled furnaces for the specialty metals industry.

This role is an exciting opportunity to work on highly engineered capital equipment projects, contributing to innovative solutions in precision metallurgy.

Reporting to a Project Engineer, the Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible for creating detailed mechanical drawings, bills of materials, and design specifications for complex mechanical systems.

 

Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer

Location: Rancocas, New Jersey 

Pay Range: $65,000-$75,000

 

What’s the Job?

  • Develop detailed mechanical drawings and bills of materials (BOMs) under the guidance of a Project Engineer.
  • Execute machine design for furnace components and subsystems, ensuring functionality, durability, and efficiency.
  • Perform engineering calculations to validate design integrity and compliance with industry standards.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for internal teams and customers.
  • Participate in on-site field visits for installation, startup, troubleshooting, and commissioning as part of training and professional development.

 

What’s Needed?

 

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • 1–3 years of experience in mechanical design, preferably in capital equipment or industrial machinery.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD for 3D modeling and drafting software.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical design principles, including component selection, materials, and system integration.
  • Experience in capital equipment manufacturing or related industrial sectors.
  • Exposure to Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and other engineering simulation tools.
  • Familiarity with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) and ASME drafting standards.
