The role of a director of production is one that requires an individual to be highly organized, detail-oriented and able to manage multiple projects at once. They are responsible for overseeing all aspects of the production processfrom pre-production planning through post-production editing.
The director of production oversees all aspects of production including scheduling, budgeting, staffing, equipment rentals, etc. They also work closely with other members of the production team to ensure that everyones needs are met throughout the entire production process.
Position Objective
Ensure smooth production operations, optimization and support.
Ensuring that all production activities are carried out in accordance with company policies and procedures
Working with other members of the production team to identify potential problems with scripts, budgets, or other issues
Conducting initial assessments of prospective projects to determine whether they are likely to be successful
Working with the director to organize the production schedule, including tasks
Monitoring the progress of productions to ensure that they are on track to meet deadlines
Managing all aspects of production, including selecting crews, hiring talent, ordering supplies, and overseeing set design
Supervising the quality control of the work as needed
In some cases, overseeing the editing process to ensure that the final product meets the clients specifications
Overseeing all aspects of post-production, including editing, sound design, and visual effects
Managing the purchase of all materials and monitoring all the issuing machines to the customers
Participating in hiring a new production team and onboarding them
