Job Description
Event Sales Director:
You are responsible for growing existing accounts and generating new business for all market segments.
Duties & Functions
Approach all encounter with Guest and employees in a friendly, service oriented manner; Maintain regular attendance, as required by scheduling which will vary according to the needs of the hotel; Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, as defined in the hotel handbook when working; comply at all time with New Castle standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations, conduct effective sales programs in established group markets; set and achieve sales goals; conduct competitive market research; Motivate sales managers to perform an effective outside sales program; Develop and implement new, special market programs; React to relevant current business trends, market conditions, and local area special events; React to individual property's stress times; Evaluate potential business for existing and new markets; Adapt to individual property's group market needs; Check appearance of all department employees to ensure compliance with NCHR; Standards of Appearance, council when necessary; Maintain open door policy; Assist in preparing weekly payroll; Check and respond to electronic communications in a timely fashion; Keep immediate supervisors fully informed of all challenges or matters requiring his/her attention; Supervise staff including; interview, hire, schedule, train, develop, empower, coach & council, recommend and conduct performance and salary reviews, resolve problems, provide open communications, recommend discipline & termination as appropriate; Prepare daily/weekly schedule and set priorities, while scheduling time effectively; Monitor quarterly and yearly sales goals; Prepare all weekly reports and activities in Sales department; Identify group markets for the fiscal year by utilizing all prior and current knowledge of the market; Contribute to sales related activities and marketing plan; Revise and adjust market plan on a quarterly basis or as much as needed throughout the year according to changing business trends; Monitor the implementation of plans and actions according to an effective time schedule; Maintain effective communication with all hotel departments; Conduct effective meetings; Oversee all departmental operations and employee performance; Enforce all departmental S.O.P.s; Assure that the department operates within approved budget to control costs; perform necessary follow-up.
Mental Requirements
Oral and Written Comprehension and Expression - Must be able to convey & understand information and ideas in English; Must be able to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately; Must be effective in handling problems in the workplace, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving problems as necessary; Must work well in stressful, high pressure situations; Must maintain composure and objectivity under pressure; Must have the ability to assimilate complex information, data, etc. from multiple sources and consider, adjust, or modify to meet the constraints of the particular need; Must be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying the concerns and issues raised by co-workers and guests; Mathematical Reasoning - Must be able to work with and understand financial information and data, and basic arithmetic functions; Must be able to prioritize departmental functions in order to meet due dates and deadlines.
Job Requirements
This role requires at least four years of progressive experience in a hotel ore related field. A degree in Hotel Management Preferred. Candidate must have previous supervisory responsibility required. To be successful in this role, you must be able to read, write, and verbally communicate effectively and professionally in English with associates, guests, and hotel management as well as the ability to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately. This job requires light work - exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently - with a regular need to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Long hours, many of which may be spent standing or walking, often required. This role will require the ability to bend, stretch, stoop and reach repeatedly without difficulty, while working under variable temperatures and noise levels, both outdoors and indoors, and around chemicals, fumes, odor hazards, dust and mite hazards.
