IRPI is a research and engineering company specializing in advanced space exploration technologies. We work with NASA, private space companies, and aerospace contractors. We are seeking a versatile and motivated Mechanical or Aerospace Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and demonstrate the ability to work both independently and collaboratively across a variety of projects.
Responsibilities
- Design new devices, create prototypes, and develop hardware for space technologies
- Apply expertise to implement and instrument fluid, thermal, and mechanical systems
- Write project reports documenting technical progress and data
- Collaborate with prime contractors and government agencies including NASA
- Develop CAD models of parts and assemblies in SolidWorks
- Participate in flight qualification (for space hardware), operations, and crew training
- Work in-house and with external manufacturers to produce parts, prototypes, and test devices
Requirements
- Master of Science or B.S. with at least 4 years of relevant experience (if no work experience, exceptional undergraduate qualifications and internship or project experience)
- US citizenship required
- Proficiency in 3D CAD (i.e. SolidWorks)
- Excellent proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Strong fluid, thermal, and mechanical analytical abilities
- Excellent technical writing and documentation skills
- Familiar with manufacturing methods and technologies (especially 3D printing and CNC)
Qualifications
- Real world engineering experience through research, projects, internships, etc.
- Understanding of fluid/thermal systems and not afraid of getting your hands dirty prototyping and executing experiments
- Familiarity with instrumentation, DAQ, and scripting
- Familiarity with manufacturing methods including 3D printing and machining
- Enjoy working with people and moving projects forward in a fast-paced environment
- Hard-working, operate well under pressure, capable, trustworthy
