Lead Electrical Engineer – Battery Management Systems

This is an exciting opportunity to join a pioneering company in the design and manufacturing of specialized battery packs and advanced battery management systems. As the Lead Electrical Engineer, you will play a key role in designing and validating electronic circuits, as well as specifying and programming electronic test equipment. You will collaborate within a multidisciplinary team to develop cutting-edge battery packs , overseeing the design, prototyping, testing, and transition of electronic circuits, interfaces, cables, and accessories—along with their documentation—into manufacturing.

Responsibilities:

Battery Management Systems Development

• BMS Collaboration : Partner with Firmware Engineers to design and implement robust Battery Management Systems (BMS) firmware for safe and efficient battery operations.
• Fuel Gauge Integration : Work with Firmware Engineers to incorporate fuel gauging solutions for accurate state-of-charge monitoring in battery designs.

Circuit Design & Development

• Develop high-performance analog and digital circuits for battery packs across various chemistries, prioritizing performance, efficiency, and safety.
• Design and integrate battery charger systems, ensuring compatibility with different chemistries, optimized charging efficiency, and adherence to safety standards.

Manufacturing & Testability

• Design for Manufacturing (DFM) : Apply DFM principles to ensure circuit designs support efficient, scalable, and cost-effective manufacturing processes.
• Design for Testability (DFT) : Incorporate DFT strategies to facilitate effective testing and debugging during production.

Requirements and Desired Experience:

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering; MS a plus
• 5+ years years experience designing Battery Management Systems
• 10 or more years of experience in electronics technology and embedded hardware.
• Experience designing circuits for lithium-ion battery packs.
• Highly proficient with Altium Designer for schematic capture and PCB layout.
• Proven experience with analog and digital circuits as well as power system design.
• Experience integrating battery charger systems into circuit designs.
• Knowledge of renewable energy applications as well as energy storage systems.
• Familiar with thermal management in battery pack designs.
• Experience leading DFM principles to ensure efficient, scalable, and cost-effective manufacturing processes as well as incorporating DFT strategies and principles.
• Experience with Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) requirements in the product development process.
• Experience collaborating with Firmware Engineers for Battery Management System development.
• Knowledge of applicable industry standards and regulations.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication and collaboration skills
• Strong attention to detail, able to work effectively within cross-functional teams.

Salary Range (Based on Experience & Qualifications): $150k - $180k
