Job Description Heartbeat seeks an experienced Design Director. This role will be tasked with pushing the ambition and quality of Heartbeat's Design practice by creating, inspiring, and skills-coaching the design teams and outputs to the highest quality.
In this role you will help foster a Design ecosystem to support high quality craft and innovation, including establishing work practices, expectations, and partnership with cross-functional partners and clients.
Responsibilities What you'll do:
- Design brands, identities and expressions, campaigns, visual systems to support client work including brand development, brand and marketing campaigns, and new product launches.
- Understand, untangle, concept, sell-through, and execute works for each audience and marketing goal, ensuring that our Design is functional as well as beautiful and resonant.
- Apply a full funnel approach as you own consumer journey workflows and resulting Design executions.
- Work across all visual touch points in our Design practice, including: Brand, brand identity, digital, web, product, print, OOH, merchandise, physical experience executions and collateral systems.
- Ability to extract strategic and creative needs from a wide variety of stakeholders, both internally and externally, to clearly define the deliverables, goals/objectives, milestones and successful outcomes of any given project.
- Direct management of Design teams on individual projects.
- Collaboration with Designers, Creative Directors, Resource Managers, and Production Teams.
- Report to the VP, Creative Director, Design.

Qualifications Who you are:
- A track record as a well-liked creative leader for projects/campaigns that include Brand and Design systems, audience experiences, and products that delight audiences/users and achieve business results.
- You have a "What's the note behind the note?" approach to feedback. You know that every note - whether or not you make the change - is valuable because it provides information.
- A consistent ability to clearly express yourself and have a strategic rationale for your creative ideas - including having the confidence to present your work in a clear and inspiring way to internal teams and client partners.
- Adept at guiding internal and external teams using rationales and persuasion, rather than inflexibility and impatience.
- Prioritize high teammate and stakeholder satisfaction with your work and process.
What you need:
- 6-8 years of experience as a creative in agency or in-house marketing teams including 2+ years in lead roles on multidisciplinary creative teams.
- Senior-level understanding of composition, color theory, typography, design history, and information architecture.
- A multi-disciplinary design portfolio that demonstrates excellence in visual executions across multiple touchpoints and channels every level of the engagement funnel.
- You don't have a singular look to your work - you're happiest as a shape-shifter who can create a unique design solution for client/project.
- Experience managing a virtual team working environment.
- Comfortable working concurrently on multiple projects at the same time.
- Enjoy monitoring the latest design trends from around the world in order to bring fresh inspiration to the creative team (and our wider teams) on a daily/weekly basis.

Compensation Range: $79,990- $125,925 annually. This is the pay range the Company believes it will pay for this position at the time of this posting. Consistent with applicable law, compensation will be determined based on the skills, qualifications, and experience of the applicant along with the requirements of the position, and the Company reserves the right to modify this pay range at any time. Temporary roles may be eligible to participate in our freelancer/temporary employee medical plan through a third-party benefits administration system once certain criteria have been met.
