Loyal Source Government Services is looking for a BC General Surgeon to work at the VA Northern Indiana Healthcare System, 2121 Lake Ave, Fort Wayne IN 46805

Job Summary:

Physician’s care shall cover the range of General Surgery services as would be provided in a state-of-the-art civilian medical treatment facility and the standard of care shall be of a quality, meeting or exceeding currently recognized the Joint Commission (TJC), VA and national standards as established by: http://www.absurgery.org/

Duties:

Patients must be seen by the physician onsite at the NIHCS in a timely manner in accordance with VA Rules and Regulations on clinic wait times and consult completion.
Shall be available and present in clinic during normal NIHCS clinic hours, which will be established, and may be revised, as deemed appropriate for patient care by the COS. Currently, normal clinic hours are Monday – Friday, 07:30am- 16:00pm.
Must be available at all times for phone consultations with VA residents and physicians and must be available within 15 minutes by phone and onsite within 60 minutes.
Shall provide an academic environment conducive to the training and professional development of HPTs rotating through the General Surgery Service in accordance with current VA, accrediting agency, and JC equivalent compliance guidelines.
Shall be present on time for any scheduled clinics/surgeries start times as documented by physical presence in the clinic or OR at the scheduled start time.
Provide discharge education and follow up instructions that are coordinated with the next care setting for all GENERAL SURGERY clinical or surgical patients.
Shall provide consultation with and instruction to referring physicians regarding appropriate indications for procedures so that the most expeditious and clinically appropriate work-up can be done. Shall determine the appropriate course of treatment and communicate in person or by phone with the referring clinicians.
Shall review any surgical admission(s) to inpatient hospital care recommended by Advanced Practice Provider (Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner). Every admission to inpatient care shall have a person-to-person hand-off/hand-over from the admitting Provider to a responsible member of the admitting team.

Candidates with past VA experience will be rated more favorably
Proof of Board Certification
Copies of ALL active Licenses with Primary Source Verification
All licenses must be full and unrestricted
Copy of Diploma
Copies of BLS/ACLS (AHA Preferred)
Must not be expired
Will not accept recertification upon award
Proof Candidate has been compared to the OIG Exempt List
Signed letter of Commitment

Benefits: 1099 pay

Pay: $240/hr
