Hi, my name is David, in Albuquerque. I'm a senior living by myself in a 1 bedroom apartment. As a one-legged amputee, I'm wheelchair bound but can transfer to bed, commode and shower with minimal or no assistance. I will need some help pulling up my pants for going out on errands which is not very often.
Around January 23, 2025, I'll need a full-time caregiver or two to three part-time caregivers for 7 days a week. Up until that time there is a chance to work about 10 hours per week to do some light house-keeping and to see if we are a good match. Hours can be arranged.
I'll need assistance from 8am-9am to empty urinary bag, make coffee and do some light housekeeping. I'll need assistance from 7pm to 11pm. to prepare evening meal, prepare for bed and assist getting into bed. The hours can be adjusted a bit. Additional time need alternate days for showers. Groceries are delivered so caretaker would put away food.
Occasionally I go out during the week for 2 or 3 hours. The caretaker can drive my car and I have a portable wheelchair.
Medicaid pays my caregiver so the caregiver would need to do a background check to qualify for position. I am allocated for 40 hours over 7 days at $17/hour.
I spend most of my time on the internet but also enjoy a good daily conversation. I'm trained to do massages and continue to do that. I've studied health and nutrition for years to help keep my body as healthy as possible. I like to joke around and enjoy listening to upbeat, passionate classical music. Most of the day I have coffee and snacks so I really enjoy my evening meal to be substantial, tasty and a little spicy!
