Position Purpose

The Account Manager is responsible for developing and fostering a trusted consultive relationship with each of their assigned accounts. As the main point of contact, they will work directly with their accounts to forecast, track key account metrics, and communicate clearly on the progress of monthly/quarterly initiatives. They will be responsible for developing multiple relationships, uncovering additional opportunities, and growing the account both by load count and revenue. They will work closely with the customer to provide rates both contractually and on a spot basis. They will monitor service levels, put operational plans in place, and discuss any opportunities for improvement. 

Position Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service excellence by serving existing customer accounts
  • Maintain daily contact with customers to understand needs and identify business opportunities.
  • Ensure on time pick-up and delivery of all customer freight
  • Negotiate rates with customers on a spot or contractual basis
  • Identify potential issues and utilize critical thinking to determine the best course of action
  • Responsible for working with their leader and the Sales team to onboard and integrate new customers
  • Maintain a true understanding of the market and spot pricing  
  • Grow and develop new and existing customers
  • Understand and leverage appropriate software and industry tools to improve margin yield
  • Assist in account development and account forecasting
  • Meet or exceed required margin and revenue goals
  • Takes initiative and perform other duties as assigned

Position Requirements

  • Minimum of 2+yrs in a Customer Service related field.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and excellent time management skills
  • Be able to handle large email/call volume
  • Driven and competitive natured, with impressive negotiation skills
  • Withstand a fast-paced and high-pressure environment
  • Ability to take verbal/written instruction and execute with confidence.
  • Team player who can also produce independent results
  • Unquestionable integrity
  • This is an IN OFFICE position. You MUST reside near or around the Jackson, MS area.
