Job Title : HR Generalist

Schedule : Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm (must have a flexible schedule)

Department : Human Resources

Location : Stokesdale, NC

Reports To : HR Manager


Job Purpose

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced HR Generalist to join our dynamic manufacturing team. The HRG will serve as a key partner to the operations leadership, assisting with the implementation of HR strategies, policies, and initiatives across the manufacturing facility. This individual will play a critical role in driving employee engagement, managing employee relations, supporting workforce development, and ensuring compliance with all applicable labor laws.

The HRG will be visible on the floor, providing guidance and support to all levels of staff and leadership in areas including employee relations, terminations, investigations, and other day-to-day HR activities.


Key Responsibilities:

Employee Relations & Conflict Resolution:

  • Act as a trusted advisor to management and employees on various HR matters, including employee concerns, disciplinary actions, and conflict resolution.
  • Lead investigations into employee complaints, performance issues, and workplace incidents, ensuring compliance with company policies and legal requirements.
  • Manage terminations and ensure appropriate documentation and processes are followed.


New Hire Orientation & Onboarding:

  • Oversee new hire orientation to ensure all new employees are effectively onboarded and integrated into the company culture.
  • Coordinate with various departments to facilitate a smooth transition for new hires.


Attendance & Timekeeping:

  • Track and monitor daily attendance, ensuring accurate recording and compliance with attendance policies.
  • Assist in managing absenteeism and work with supervisors to address attendance concerns.


Payroll & Unemployment Claims:

  • Collaborate with payroll to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll, including tracking and resolving discrepancies.
  • Process unemployment claims and support the company’s response to unemployment-related inquiries.


Compliance & Labor Laws:

  • Maintain a deep understanding of federal, state, and local labor laws, ensuring company policies and procedures are compliant with these regulations.
  • Advise on FMLA (Family and Medical Leave Act) requests and ensure appropriate documentation and processes are followed.


Policy & Initiative Implementation:

  • Support the implementation of new company initiatives, policies, and procedures to foster a positive, productive work environment.
  • Drive the communication and education of employees and managers regarding changes in policies or programs.


Reporting & Data Management:

  • Produce and submit regular reports on key HR metrics and activities, including turnover, performance reviews, training initiatives, and general employee relations trends.
  • Analyze HR data to identify patterns and recommend strategies for improvement.


Employee Engagement & Development

  • Act as a liaison between management and employees to promote a positive company culture, fostering engagement and retention.
  • Conduct regular check-ins with new hires and existing employees to gauge satisfaction and support development.


Visibility on the Floor

  • Maintain an active presence on the manufacturing floor, engaging with employees and management to address issues, provide guidance, and foster a positive work environment.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • 3+ years of experience in Human Resources, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
  • Strong knowledge of labor laws, FMLA, OSHA, and other employment regulations.
  • Proven experience handling employee relations issues, terminations, investigations, and disciplinary actions.
  • Experience in new hire orientation, payroll processing, and managing unemployment claims.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships across all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • A proactive, solution-oriented mindset with a hands-on approach.


Physical Demands:

This role requires frequent movement around the manufacturing floor, interacting with employees and management.
