Seeking Sous Chef for New Restaurant in Rhinebeck, NY

Our concept celebrates the beauty of farm-to-table dining in the Hudson Valley, focusing on vegetable-forward dishes, housemade pasta, artisan flatbreads, and freshly baked goods. We are looking for an enthusiastic, creative, and talented sous chef to help bring this vision to life.
The Role:
- The Sous chef is responsible for supporting the Executive Chef in managing the daily operation of the restaurant and market kitchen, events, food outlets, and any food happenings at Little Goat.
- Responsibility includes overseeing production and staff management including hot line, cold line, dish and expo.
- Work with the Executive Chef to create a dynamic, seasonal menu that highlights local ingredients and reflects our commitment to sustainability.
- Assist with placing food and cleaning supplies orders with vendors as needed, using order guides and purchase orders (when required) to organize all orders.
- Oversee execution of cafe and market items including, but not limited to, salads, pizzas, soups and sandwiches, ensuring proper presentation and preparation.
- Manage pasta and bread production for both the restaurant and the market.
- Manage production and presentation of market items and provisions, including, but not limited to, salads, pizzas, sandwiches, raw pastas, sauces, and preserves.
- Willing to work at any station and expedite when necessary.
- Monitor cleaning and maintenance of all kitchen equipment according to DOH cleaning and sanitation guidelines.
- Monitor and train all staff in proper sanitation procedures.
- Perform other relevant duties as required.
What We’re Looking For:
- Culinary Arts degree or advanced culinary arts certification is preferred but not required.
- 5 years of experience within the hospitality industry, including 2 years of management experience, preferably with pasta, pizza and/or bread production.
- Completion of Certified Food Service Manager certification preferred, or ability to complete the certification within 90 days after date of hire.
- Impeccable service standards and attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to lead people and get results through others.
- Ability to effectively solve problems and make decisions in a fast paced, high pressure environment.
- Ability to work effectively across all functional departments.
- Strong project management skills from conception to completion, with ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously to deadline.
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment while keeping a calm and collected attitude.
