Part Time Specimen Collector

JOB OVERVIEW
The Specimen Collector is responsible for collection of patient specimens in physician's office, including; urine, oral fluid specimens, and potentially Covid-19 specimens. Specimen Collectors also complete requisition forms for specimen testing, ensuring integrity of the specimen, obtain accompanying patient information, shipping specimens to the laboratory, and entering patient information into EMR, or LIS system as needed. Position may also include, requesting missing patient information from the clinic staff, scheduling specimen collection appointments, and other general office tasks as deemed necessary by Field Operations Supervisor of Core Business.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Collect all urine samples, enter data in Laboratory Information SystemCollect anterior nasal swabs for Covid-19 testing, if requested at accountObtain blood specimen collection from patients following Ethos venipuncture protocols, if applicable at the location(s) assignedFollows established patient protocolMaintains specimen integrity by following Ethos standard operating procedures and reference materials provided by Core Business Field SupervisorTracks collected specimens by initialing, dating, and completing paper requisition formsLabels specimen for identification purposes and prepares sample for shipment to labMaintains safe, secure, and clean work environment by following standard procedures, and compliance guidelinesUpdates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities & training opportunities provided by EthosAdheres to Ethos professional standards, policies and procedures, and meets federal, state, and local requirementsMaintains positive interaction with patients and clinic staff, representing Ethos core valuesWork independently and be supervised remotelyComplete assigned computer learnings, remain current with competency sign offs in Media LabOther duties as assignedRequirements

Specimen collection, medical, or laboratory experience preferred, but not requiredCustomer service, Logistics, Data Entry experience preferred, but not requiredReliable transportationHigh School Diploma or GED requiredShould client bring on additional testing the Collector is unable to perform, additional training or reassigning may be considered, to the extent that such training or other work is availableKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
