Title: Director, Supplier Management
Overview:
The Director Supplier Management develops a Supplier Management Team by employing company, supplier, industry, and market expertise across categories and suppliers, and fosters strategic business initiatives.
Mission:
The Director, Supplier Management has the mission to proactively:Augment the reputation of Mouser in the marketplace as the distributor of choice.Own their business by developing and delivering business, supplier, and team goals.Discover new suppliers, products, and advanced technologies.Lead, develop, and coach team members toward operational excellence, overseeing the development of career roadmaps, strategic business acumen, industry, and company knowledge.
Accountabilities & Essential Functions:In conjunction with Senior Management, organize strategic career advancement and direction of the team members in their area of responsibility. Use broad industry, supplier, and market knowledge in implementing efforts to achieve specific revenue, customer, and product goals.Direct the work of two or more full-time employees or their equivalent. Make suggestions and recommendations for these employees regarding performance and change of status, including transfer, advancement, termination, and hiring.Cultivate and maintain influential relationships with key suppliers and industry leaders, expanding Mouser’s market value by fostering unique solutions and advantages for suppliers.Hire, train, and develop qualified people. Lead by example, providing both coaching and training to develop their team.Effectively communicate to all levels of management, showing a high level of project and resource management skills.Analyze business, financial, and technical market trends to identify new opportunities for growth in the current portfolio and relevant line card expansion.Evaluate inventory breadth and depth within company targets for categories and suppliers, maintaining the product mix that best meets corporate financial objectives.Ensure that responses to the various Mouser teams and departments are swift, exhibiting decisive, relevant, and customer-focused solutions.Demonstrate proficiency in the accountabilities, competencies, and skills of the Corporate Supplier Manager role and coach a team to excel in their assigned areas of responsibility.Consult with senior management with tact and insight and execute all other tasks, duties, and responsibilities as assigned by the management team.
Skills & Certifications:Expertise in purchasing, inventory management, internal Mouser systems, global market trend analysis, and people & team development.Advanced knowledge in Excel (70%) and other Microsoft Office programs.Acceptable driving record and ability to provide a current, valid driver’s license and current proof of insurance.
Education & Experience:Bachelor’s degree in a Business discipline preferred.Demonstrated ability to effectively lead and manage a Product or Supplier focused team.Internal Candidates must have 3 years of Mouser experience as a Corporate Supplier Manager with a proven record of success.External Candidates must have 5 years of direct management experience AND 10 years of electronics distribution experience.
