We are interviewing Sommelier candidates with the goal to identify someone who possesses a deep knowledge and passion for wine and spirits. The ideal candidate loves hospitality and service, and is prepared to work diligently with our management team and beverage team members to create something fun and special for our guests.

JOB SUMMARY:
The Sommelier will help support the Oceans wine program while working closely with the beverage team and service team to support the creation and delivery of a unique and elevated beverage experience that is in harmony with our food program.
ESSENTIAL PASSIONS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Passion for food, beverage, and culture
- Serves as an educator, as well as an inspirational and committed leader to the restaurant’s front-of-house team
- Prepares staff to deliver a memorable beverage experience
- Delivers superior hands-on customer service through effective training and education
- Maximizes resources and budget by maintaining and monitoring inventory and expenses
- Develops a strong rapport with teammates and guests
- Drives positive results and aligns with business goals
- Under the direction of the General Manager, initiates and executes special projects as required
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum 2 years’ experience working with a premium food and beverage operation
- Holds a high-level, professionally recognized Sommelier certification from WSET, CMS, ISG or other valued equivalent
- Related university degree or a combination of education and experience
- Strong business acumen with a proven ability to provide insightful, industry-leading, best-in-class outcomes to perpetuate growth in a premium service environment
- Highly committed to a premium level of quality
- Skilled at developing and creating food and beverage experiences that drive customer satisfaction and loyalty
- Strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to analyze current business problems and implement recommended solutions
- A solutions-provider committed to a vision of service to create an ultimate guest experience
- Strong verbal and written English communication skills
- Superior conflict resolution skills, with the ability to relate professionally to all levels of staff, management, clientele, suppliers, and partners
- Excellent planning and organizational skills, including the ability to handle conflicting deadlines and prioritize multiple tasks
- Comfortable with dealing with media, public speaking, and VIP guests
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Able to lift 30+ pounds
- Possesses basic math skills
- Maintains friendly, helpful and positive attitude at all times
- Polished personal presentation
- Communicates information effectively and efficiently
- Able to comprehend and follow written and verbal direction
- Able to work nights, weekends and holidays, and variable schedule, per the needs of the business
- Ability to walk, stand, and/or bend continuously and for extended periods as required to perform essential job functions
- Ability to perform essential job functions under pressure and maintain professionalism when working under stress
- Attends mandatory staff meetings
- Adherence to company, state, and county sanitation standards
- Strict adherence to posted schedule and clock in/out at times
- Unpack, stock, & organize all items in and around the restaurant to maintain highest level of cleanliness possible
- Adhere to all HR policies and procedures
