We are a fast-growing, high-volume construction company operating in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. We are seeking an experienced Accounts Receivable (AR) Manager to lead and develop our AR team while ensuring compliance with US GAAP and best practices in financial management.
Job Summary:
The AR Manager will oversee the full-cycle accounts receivable function, ensuring timely invoicing, collections, and cash application while maintaining compliance with US GAAP. This role requires a hands-on leader who thrives in a high-volume, fast-paced environment and is committed to team development. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction accounting, a "roll-up-your-sleeves" mentality, and the ability to drive process improvements.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Team Development:
Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing AR team, fostering a culture of accountability and professional growth.
Provide hands-on training and support to team members while optimizing workflows to improve efficiency.
Set performance goals and monitor key AR metrics to ensure team success.
Accounts Receivable Management:
Oversee invoicing, cash applications, collections, and credit management for a high-volume AR operation.
Maintain strong internal controls and ensure AR processes comply with US GAAP and company policies.
Work closely with project managers, finance, and operations teams to ensure accurate and timely billing.
Drive proactive collections efforts while balancing strong client relationships.
Manage lien waivers, payment applications, and construction-specific AR requirements.
Process Improvement & Compliance:
Identify opportunities to enhance AR processes, systems, and reporting to support scalability and efficiency.
Develop and implement best practices for AR aging, cash forecasting, and dispute resolution.
Partner with IT and finance leadership to improve automation and system capabilities.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Work closely with the Controller, CFO, and project teams to align financial reporting with business objectives.
Collaborate with legal and contract teams to manage disputes, payment terms, and compliance requirements.
Support month-end close processes by preparing AR reports, reconciliations, and variance analyses.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
5+ years of accounts receivable experience, with at least 2+ years in a leadership role.
Construction industry experience required, including familiarity with lien waivers and payment applications.
Strong understanding of US GAAP and financial reporting principles.
Proven track record of successfully managing AR teams in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Hands-on mentality with the ability to step in and support day-to-day AR functions when needed.
Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Sage, Viewpoint, or similar construction accounting software).
Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with multiple departments.
