Medical Coders

On-Site at Naval Medical Center,San Diego, CA

Qualifications:

Education:

A minimum of one of the following:

Associate's Degree in health information management

OR

a university certificate for medical coding

OR

at least 30 semester hours university/college credit that includes relevant coursework such as anatomy/physiology, medical terminology, health information management and/or pharmacology.

Experience:

A minimum of (8) Eight years of medical coding experience and/or auditing experience in two or more specialties medical, surgical and ancilliary specialties.

A minimum of (1) one year of performance in the specialty is required to be qualifying

AND

four (4) years of experience in a training role (training auditors, coders, and/or providers) within the last eight (8) years is required

OR

three (3) years training experience within the last (5) five years in a military coding environment.

Must have working knowledge of ICD codes, (CPT) Current Procedural Terminology, and(E&M) Evaluation and Management codes.
