Established in 1970, Orthopedic Associates of Hartford, P.C. is one of the area's largest and most respected orthopedic specialty groups.


Our Business Office, located in Farmington, CT is currently seeking an experienced Staff Accountant to join our team. The successful candidate will have an associate degree and at least four years bookkeeping or staff accounting experience, must be able to work independently, be a quick learner, possess strong attention to detail, and have a strong work ethic with impeccable attendance and reliability.


Primary responsibilities of this position include: Maintaining and reconciling cash transactions, assistance with property tax, use tax, and 1099s, balance sheet account maintenance, and assist Controller with general ledger entries, maintenance, and analytics.


Responsibilities include:

  • Maintenance and reconciliation of bank accounts and transactions.
  • Properly allocate direct expenses and produce monthly direct expense analysis schedules.
  • Property Tax & Sales tax returns and maintenance of backup.
  • Identify & maintain 1099 vendors. Annual 1099 tax form preparation.
  • Record and reconcile transactions relating to Retirement plan. Maintain detailed records.
  • Record and reconcile transactions relating to Health Savings Accounts. Maintain detailed records.
  • Maintenance of Balance Sheet general ledger accounts and detailed backup schedules.
  • Assistance with expense analysis
  • Accounts Payable backup
  • Assist Controller, as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Requirements of this position include, but may not be limited to:

  • Associate degree in accounting, or at least 4 years related experience.
  • Medical business office experience a plus.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience with Sage Intacct a plus.
  • Experience with Paylocity payroll software is desirable.
  • Clear understanding of accounting procedures and general ledger transactions.
  • Proven experience reconciling bank accounts and high-volume bank transactions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
