Job Summary
Med-Surg RNs provide adult care before and after medical procedures and surgeries in various healthcare settings. They assess patient health status, evaluate treatment effectiveness, administer medication, and coordinate routine patient care.
Responsibilities
- Daily assessments of patients' physical and emotional conditions
- Post-surgical assessments to monitor recovery progress
- Wound care and management
- Continuously evaluating patient health status and treatment outcomes
- Administering medications and coordinating patient care activities
Requirements
- Active RN license in good standing
- BLS certification
- ACLS certification (preferred)
- Recent experience in a hospital Med-Surg setting
Work Environment
Med-Surg nurses work in hospitals, outpatient clinics, specialty surgery centers, and long-term care facilities. A typical workload includes 5-7 patients at any given time, requiring strong organizational and communication skills.
