Position Summary:
The Department of Mathematical and Physical Sciences invites applications for the position of a 9-month tenure track Assistant Professor of Mathematics. The position carries a teaching load of 12 credit hours of lower and upper division classes in mathematics and statistics per semester, performing scholarly activities and research with undergraduate students, and serving the department, institution and the community, as assigned by the department head. The department currently consists of fifteen faculty members and twelve instructors. Candidates must have a Ph.D. degree in mathematics by the time of appointment on August 2025. Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence and student interaction through advising and student organizations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in mathematics and statistics.
Effectively advise students.
Engage students in high impact learning practices.
Involve undergraduates in research projects or experiential learning.
Identify specific prospects for on-campus collaboration with other disciplines.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge - command of academic discipline and teaching pedagogy
Skills - organization, leadership, communication
Abilities - responsive, collegial.
Minimum Requirements:
Ph.D. in mathematics or closely related field.
Excellent oral & written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Evidence of quality teaching and scholarship.
Evidence of developing, supporting and/or implementing effective teaching and instructional technologies.
Evidence of, or ability to, establish an extramurally funded undergraduate research program.
