As the Assistant Director of Brand Strategy at Mays Business School, you’ll be at the helm of our brand’s strategic development. You’ll lead our advertising agency partnerships, drive all external advertising efforts, and oversee internal marketing and communication support across all units. In this role you will lead our advertising agency, providing feedback on brand platform work, media strategies, and campaign creative. You’ll set the strategic direction for all advertising initiatives, building campaigns that position Mays as the nation’s top public business school. You’ll manage multiple overlapping projects, collaborating with internal and external partners to communicate goals, collect feedback, and report results.

Responsibilities

Brand Management:

Act as lead manager for Mays Business School’s advertising agency, providing feedback on brand platform work, media strategies, campaign creative, and optimizing efforts

Understand the messaging needs of the school-wide brand, as well as individual unit brands, and set strategic direction and scope for all advertising initiatives

Build advertising campaigns that set Mays on the trajectory of becoming the preeminent public business school in the nation

Project Management:

Manage deadlines on multiple overlapping projects involving agency initiatives and unit-specific marketing requests

Collaborate with internal and external partners to communicate project goals, collect feedback, provide updates, and report results

Organizational Management:

Manage a team of brand specialists that support all units within Mays Business School

Understand individual units’ marketing and communications needs, create solutions to support their goals, while adhering to team guidelines and maintaining the integrity of the Mays brand

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications or related field

Seven years of experience in brand management, or similar role, including time working for an advertising or marketing agency

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Experience building brand strategies and applying them

Understanding of successful media planning tactics and components of a successful media strategy

Ability to oversee multiple advertising campaigns with overlapping timelines

Understanding of design tactics that make a successful creative platform

Understanding of successful metric tracking and optimization tactics

Supervisory experience and experience in marketing analytics

Strong project management skills with demonstrated experience delegating, delivering feedback, and meeting deadlines

Ability to walk and stand for longer periods of time if participating in photo-shoots or video shoots for Mays Business School

A well-qualified candidate for this position will possess a bachelor’s degree in marketing with a specialization in communications, along with certifications from Google Ads and YouTube Creator Academy. They should have three years of experience managing large YouTube channels, creating engaging video content, and leveraging SEO strategies. The candidate should have a strong affiliation with Texas A&M and/or Mays Business School, higher education experience in advertising or marketing, and 7+ years as a brand strategist or managing client-side agency contracts.
