*Summary*

Develop, modify, enhance, and implement software systems designed to support business initiatives. Works in all phases of projects, which are of considerable complexity, and requires strong knowledge of development technologies and principles. Srves as a technical resource for and reviews the work of less experienced staff members. Provides technical assistance and advice on existing software solutions.

Responsible to drive continuous improvement of system reliability. Establishes a system of monitoring and alerting to measure reliability over time and identify customer impacting issues in a timely manner to help teams operate within their error budgets. Requires the ability to understand a complex architecture across a broad range of technologies. Performs maintenance and provides technical assistance and advice on existing software solutions.

*Responsibilities *
* Actively and consistently support all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience.
* Design, implement, monitor, enhance and troubleshoot systems in assigned areas.
* Analyze, revise and document difficulties in existing system logic.
* Test and review system designs.
* Resolve escalated incidents and problems with software supported by the team.
* Generates reports.
* Provide management with system analysis, feedback, and improvement recommendations.
* Work with software architects identifying and recommending design and requirements needed for software enhancements.
* Maximize efficiency of various software systems by implementing, monitoring, testing, and auditing new software programs.
* Develop RESTful APIs for use by various front end/UI using Scala/Java/typescript technologies.
* Strong experience with any of these programing languages (Java, Python, Scala, Typescript).
* Develop microservices using AWS.
* Take ownership and make technical decisions on software development projects.
* Develop and implement software according to proposals.
* Estimate scope of work.
* Create project documentation.
* Implement software proposals.
* Serves as an escalation point to resolve incidents and problems for production applications and web services supported by the team in accordance with identified Service Level Objectives
* Collaborates with internal customers, technical, and architecture teams to solve complex software problems
* Provides general system users and management with system analysis and feedback
* Influences system design by identifying and recommending design and requirements needs for software enhancements
* Mentors and coaches less experienced staff
* Participates in continuous performance improvement and root cause analysis sessions to discuss opportunities to improve processes, system reliability, and standards
* Analyzes and resolves computer related problems by coordinating with in-house personnel to diagnose and fix operational issues, as well as consulting, advising and training on specialized features and functions
* Follows established configuration/change control processes
* Helps to reduce toil
* Implements internal automation systems, including code development
* Strong experience with software security principles and patterns.
* Ability to collaborate with and contribute to a common culture of excellence.
* Hands-on experience with cloud solution providers AWS

*Required Qualifications *
* Thorough understanding of software engineering and object oriented design principles
* Strong and current development experience in Java and web technologies
* Ability to take ownership and make technical decisions on software development projects
* Familiarity with dependency management and build systems like Maven and Ant
* Experience working with open source software such as Spring, Google Guice, Guava, Tomcat, and NoSQL solutions
* Scala, Typescript, Java, Spring, JPA/Hibernate, Databases (Relational and NoSQL), RESTful web services, AWS, Micro services, Jersey, SOAP web services, Axis, JMS, ESB’s, XML, XSD, XSL, JSON, HTML5, JavaScript, Apache open source libraries, Maven, Git, Eclipse/NetBeans/IntelliJ, continuous integration testing, shell scripting,

*Preferred Qualifications *
* Agile experience
* Experience with AWS, micro services
* 5+ years of experience with the following: Software Development methodologies, Architecture, Networking, or Systems Administration
