Project Engineer
Charlotte, NC

Position Overview:
We are partnering with a leading manufacturing company to identify an experienced and driven Project Engineer to lead capital and process improvement projects across their production facilities. This role is integral to enhancing operational efficiency, optimizing processes, and ensuring the successful implementation of engineering solutions. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in managing complex projects, technical aptitude, and a commitment to driving operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Manage and execute capital projects, including equipment installations, facility upgrades, and process optimization initiatives.
  2. Develop detailed project plans, including scope, schedule, and budget, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  3. Coordinate with internal teams and external vendors to ensure successful project delivery.
  4. Conduct technical assessments to identify opportunities for improvements in production processes and facility operations.
  5. Develop engineering designs, drawings, and specifications for new equipment or system modifications.
  6. Perform cost analysis and feasibility studies to support decision-making.
  7. Supervise contractors, vendors, and installation teams during project execution to ensure compliance with safety, quality, and schedule requirements.
  8. Lead commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting of new equipment or systems to ensure operational readiness.
  9. Monitor project progress and address challenges promptly to maintain momentum and minimize disruptions.
  10. Partner with production, maintenance, and safety teams to align project goals with operational needs.
  11. Serve as a technical resource for troubleshooting and resolving complex engineering challenges.
  12. Provide regular updates to stakeholders, including leadership, on project performance metrics.
  13. Identify and implement innovative engineering solutions to improve production efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance sustainability.
  14. Stay informed on industry trends, new technologies, and best practices to bring fresh ideas to the organization.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering or a related field.
  2. 5+ years of experience in manufacturing or industrial project engineering.
  3. Proven ability to lead capital projects and process improvement initiatives.
  4. Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar design software.
  5. Knowledge of industrial equipment, manufacturing processes, and automation systems.
  6. Familiarity with engineering standards and safety regulations.
  7. Strong project management and organizational skills.
  8. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  9. Problem-solving mindset with a focus on delivering results.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Experience with continuous manufacturing processes.
  2. Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies.
  3. Professional Engineer (PE) and/or PMP certification is a plus.
