SQL DBA
Location: Chicago, IL (loop) - 2 days onsite, 3 days work from home
What you'll be doing:
- Optimize stored procedures, functions and ad-hoc SQL.
- Design, develop and implement internal data feeds, data reporting extracts and ETL processes between disparate systems.
- Implement, create reports and provide general support for SQL Server Reporting services.
- Monitor relational databases to optimize performance, resource use, backup/recovery, and physical implementation.
- Review database objects and create and maintain change controls.
- Monitor and maintain database security.
- Migrate databases between servers and various platforms.
- Analyze and resolve SQL Server faults.
- Document data flows, application specifications from a DB perspective and system procedures.
- Implement and maintain data distribution and disaster recovery solutions, such as mirroring, replication, and log shipping.
- Support highly-available and disaster recovery (HA/DR) database technologies (such as SQL Clustering and SQL Server Availability Groups across multiple data centers).
- Investigate and resolve reported application issues, escalating issues as necessary to the application owners.
- Provide 24x7 on-call support on a rotating basis.
- Flexible to work off-hours, as required.
Skills we're seeking:
- 5+ years of experience as a SQL DBA.
- Strong SQL Server experience.
- Experience in the following DBA areas (all not required, more the better):
- Performance management and tuning, including identifying solutions that optimize SQL execution plans.
- Triggers.
- Stored Procedure Code Development and Standardization.
- Data Integration and Migration.
- Management Studio.
- SQL XML.
- Database Auditing and Controls.
Nice to haves:
- Experience with Azure SQL.
- Experience with physical and VMWare SQL configuration from an infrastructure perspective.
- Ability to translate Logical Data Models into physical structures.
