Corporate Counsel, Government & Regulatory Litigation

Amazon’s Legal Department is looking for a smart, experienced, and highly motivated litigator to help manage its worldwide portfolio of government enforcement, litigation, and regulatory matters, and advise the company on a wide variety of legal and business risk management issues.
Responsibilities include handling and supervising a wide range of government disputes and regulatory engagements across all of Amazon’s businesses; directly interacting with government officials, including regulators and law enforcement; directing overall case and matter strategy; selecting and managing outside counsel; assessing risk and coordinating with senior leadership on risk management; counseling internal stakeholders on a broad spectrum of complex and often novel legal and policy issues; and managing all stages of litigation including discovery.
This position is part of Amazon’s Government & Regulatory Litigation team. The position may be located in Arlington, Virginia; Seattle, Washington; or New York, New York.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Juris Doctor and membership in one state bar or equivalent
- 5+ years of litigation and regulatory experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience at both a law firm and federal or state government agency
- Federal judicial clerkship
- Trial experience
- Ability to independently manage multiple mission-critical projects
- Familiarity with retail, Internet, software, and/or media industries and the legal and regulatory environment in which they operate
- Ability to work as a team player
- Proficiency in advising senior executives of an organization
- Experience in crisis management and response
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Sound and practical business judgment and strong common sense
- Highest standards of ethics and professional integrity
