Job Overview:
A prestigious law firm located in Costa Mesa, CA, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Trial Attorney to join their growing team. This individual will play a pivotal role in managing trial teams and handling complex cases, focusing on automotive product liability litigation. As a Senior Trial Attorney, the successful candidate will utilize cutting-edge technology and work with expert witnesses to strategize, prepare, and present cases in both state and federal court.

Duties:

  • Lead case management for high-profile litigation matters.
  • Supervise and mentor associates and legal staff.
  • Serve as first and second chair for jury trials.
  • Represent clients in state and federal court hearings.
  • Take and defend depositions.
  • Attend mediation and engage in settlement negotiations.
  • Collaborate with expert witnesses and guide expert testimony.
  • Draft trial-related documents, including motions, pleadings, jury instructions, and trial briefs.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis to support case strategies.
  • Manage discovery processes, including drafting and responding to requests.
  • Coordinate document production and review.
  • Foster a collaborative and efficient team environment.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and internal teams.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctorate (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Active membership in the State Bar with a valid license to practice law.
  • Minimum of 10 years of legal practice with at least 5 years of litigation or trial experience.
  • Proven experience as first and second chair in trials.
  • Expertise in handling complex depositions and mediations.
  • Strong drafting skills, particularly in motions and trial pleadings.
  • Ability to manage a team and oversee case progression effectively.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to work in a high-pressure environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal research tools.

Education:

  • Juris Doctorate (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in the State Bar and license to practice law.
