About the Role:

Contributes to the development and owns the execution of patient opinion leader initiatives and influencer and ambassador programs. Supports the design and optimization of campaigns, materials, and programs through engagement with agency partners, POLs, and patient advocacy. Key responsibilities include patient OL identification, patient program management, content development, execution of patient events (conferences, walks, educational events, etc.), participation in annual brand planning activities, and providing regular actionable insights.

Responsible for implementation of marketing initiatives within the region, executing patient opinion leader engagement strategy, and building compliant relationships with patient opinion leaders and other key influencers in their assigned geography. Build relationships and collaborations with Neurocrine Biosciences among patient opinion leaders using approved materials and serve as the primary contact with these key influencers. Connect thought leaders with other relevant parts of the organization (e.g., Patient Advocacy, Market Access, Medical Affairs) while maintaining compliance with guidelines on appropriate cross-functional collaboration. Responsible for liaising with Patient Advocacy, Market Access, Sales, Patient Marketing, and Sales Training to execute POL engagement plans, address patient needs, identify/initiate appropriate projects of mutual interest to NBI and POLs, anticipate market trends, conduct informal social listening to glean insights, partner with sales training on curricula to ensure that the Field understands/empathizes with the patient voice, and understand the competitive market landscape, ensuring delivery against business objectives.

This individual will have Rare Disease experience, preferably in endocrinology, pediatrics, and/or genetic diseases. They will have patient marketing experience and preferably will have patient services and/or advocacy experience. They understand and prioritize the nuances and the importance of connecting patient marketing execution, speakers bureau development, and POL engagement strategies. They will be a strong relationship builder and have great relationships with the patient community and strong partnerships with patient-facing colleagues. They adopt a can-do, leadership mindset, creating organizational energy and excitement about the brand, and galvanizing cross-functional teams to buy into the brand mission. This individual will be passionate about improving the lives of rare disease patients.

Your Contributions (include, but are not limited to):
  • Utilizes customer and marketplace insights to contribute to the development and execution of medical marketing initiatives.

  • Creates patient speaker bureau and manages patient speaker programs with responsibilities including, but not limited to:

  • Monitor ambassador and influencer status reports: flag issues and respond to inquiries from Compliance.

  • Oversee amendments to speaker contracts as needed.

  • Represent OL Marketing in all Patient Program engagement training sessions for new account specialists.

  • Monitor POL Marketing inbox and respond to inquiries as needed.

  • OL & Medical Marketing lead for all patient events, including:

    • Submission and execution of contracts.

    • Invoice / accrual approvals.

    • Review and submission of Needs Assessment Forms (NAF) to Legal; manage speaker/ambassador selection.

    • Content management; coordination of Promotional Review Committee (PRC) reviews for content and promotional materials.

    • Review and presentation of debrief decks to cross-functional congress team.

  • Coordinates with internal groups (patient advocacy, patient services, corporate communications, and brand team) on patient ambassador-related promotional activities to ensure strategic alignment across all stakeholders.

  • Collaborates with Patient marketing team in development, execution, and alignment of non-personal promotional and other digital assets related to POL marketing.

  • Supports Patient-related advisory board meetings in partnership with agency partners and internal Patient marketing team.

  • Works collaboratively with PRC to gain approval of promotional materials, ensuring all activities and tactics are accurate and compliant; attends PRC meetings as needed.

  • Manages applicable agency budgets, ensuring alignment on planned annual spend; works with brand team budget lead and finance/accounting counterparts on monthly/quarterly accruals.

  • Participates in annual brand planning activities, including forecasts and budgeting.

  • Prioritizes regional engagement opportunities: Executes marketing initiatives, including pre-launch, launch, and life cycle management (i.e., unbranded education, POL identification and engagement, Speaker Management, etc.).

  • Develops regional business plans for current Endo Franchise products in collaboration with Sales, Market Access, and other key internal partners, which align with multiple brand strategies and marketing plans.

  • Manages patient program activities in the region (supports identification of new patient opinion leaders for consideration, attends programs, liaises with NBI teams).

  • Support training, contracting logistics, program feedback, and relationship management of ambassadors/influencers.

  • Support identification and recruitment of potential ambassadors and planning and execution of advisory meetings.

  • Collaborates with cross-functional partners to identify opportunities and execute programs with regional patient and professional advocacy.

  • Leads presence and activities at regional conventions in collaboration with Marketing & Sales.

  • Works with Marketing to manage and execute patient ambassador programs.

  • Identifies regional market insights to inform brand strategy.

  • Works with field training team to ensure consistent implementation of marketing strategy within regions.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements:
  • BS/BA degree in marketing or life sciences and 8+ years of related experience, including 5+ years in a marketing role for a pharmaceutical, biotech, or medical device company OR

  • Master's degree in marketing or life sciences and 6+ years of experience noted above.

  • Pharmaceutical Sales, Marketing, and/or Account Management experience required.

  • Strong communicator and skilled diplomat in all venues, including the ability to effectively combine scientific knowledge and communication skills (strong clinical acumen).

  • Experience working to implement marketing programs with measurable business impact.

  • Experience operating in a field-based promotional role (sales, thought leader liaison, field marketing, etc.).

  • Expertise in managing and collaborating with multiple vendors and agency partners, including medical education agency, promotional agency of record, and patient engagement agency.

  • Strong understanding of legal and regulatory environment in pharmaceutical promotions, pharma industry guidelines, and other compliance-related issues.

  • Track record of building strong cross-functional relationships with medical, legal, regulatory, advocacy, compliance, marketing, and corporate communications colleagues.

  • Anticipates business and industry issues; recommends relevant process/technical/service improvements.

  • Demonstrates broad expertise or unique knowledge.

  • Considered an expert within the company and may have external presence in area of expertise.

The annual base salary we reasonably expect to pay is $168,100.00-$243,300.00. Individual pay decisions depend on various factors, such as primary work location, complexity and responsibility of role, job duties/requirements, and relevant experience and skills. In addition, this position offers an annual bonus with a target of 30% of the earned base salary and eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program. Benefits offered include a retirement savings plan (with company match), paid vacation, holiday and personal days, paid caregiver/parental and medical leave, and health benefits to include medical, prescription drug, dental, and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans.
