Job Description

Position Description: The paralegal will assist the managing attorney in delivering high-quality legal services, including drafting legal documents, organizing case files, and preparing for trials and hearings. Additional responsibilities include conducting intake and outreach, and participating in special legal and community projects.


Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in complex litigation.
  • Proficient in drafting legal documents such as routine pleadings, affidavits, and interrogatories; filing motions and pleadings according to judicial procedures.
  • Skilled in preparing, organizing, storing, and retrieving case files, including evidence, exhibits, depositions, and pleadings.
  • Demonstrable awareness and sensitivity to the needs of the populations served.
  • Ability to manage a large caseload and function professionally in a highly stressful environment.
  • Experience in interviewing clients and preparing summaries of their statements.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to develop and maintain records of billable hours spent on specific cases.
  • Experience assisting attorneys with trial preparation, including attending trials and hearings.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, including other attorneys, support staff, volunteers, and community partners.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion and good judgment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Microsoft Excel, or related software.
  • Multilingual abilities are a plus.
  • Willingness to work beyond a standard seven-hour workday, including evenings and weekends.


Salary and Benefits: This exempt, full-time position offers a competitive salary commensurate with experience, ranging from $45,000 to $50,000. The company provides a generous benefits package, including health, vision, dental, and life insurance (for the employee), retirement plans, 13 paid holidays, and generous annual and sick leave allotments starting at 15 days of vacation and 12 days of sick leave per year, promoting a good work-life balance.
