Job Opportunity

A prominent company in the Consumer Products sector is seeking a Maintenance Superintendent for a facility in the Pacific Northwest. The successful candidate will lead maintenance programs, provide technical support to troubleshoot issues, minimize downtime, and enhance process efficiencies in the converting department. This role involves collaborating with engineers and operations team members to meet maintenance needs for daily operations and shutdowns.

  • Superintendent / Manager Level
  • Greater Portland, OR area

Responsibilities:

  • Promote a culture of safety by encouraging employee involvement and accountability to identify hazards and implement risk-based mitigation strategies.
  • Support team development by advancing employee skills, problem-solving, and resolution, while fostering commitment and accountability.
  • Set and monitor metrics, goals, and benchmarks to drive continuous improvement and align the manufacturing enterprise with business objectives.
  • Oversee work quality, provide direction to maximize efficiency, and collaborate with engineers and team members to address maintenance needs for daily operations, unplanned work, and planned shutdowns.
  • Clearly communicate daily expectations and milestones when assigning tasks.
  • Assist with technical troubleshooting to enhance safety, reliability, and quality, reduce downtime, and optimize process efficiencies.
  • Adapt to support site and company initiatives, including safety training, coaching, team development, performance management, data entry, and report generation.
  • Utilize the expertise of Environmental Health and Safety, Operations, Reliability, and Engineering teams to enhance maintenance planning and ensure comprehensive strategies that improve operational efficiency, safety compliance, and system reliability.

Candidate Background:

  • Supervisory experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment with responsibility for direct reports.
  • Experience managing other leaders within a manufacturing environment
  • Maintenance experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Experience using a CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System).
  • Experience with precision maintenance implementation.
  • Experience in converting processes within relevant manufacturing industries such as pulp & paper, corrugated, packaging, plastics, or food & beverage.
